We read, argue gently about covers, and keep notes on what landed well. Ask us — that is half the point of an indie shop.
Quay Lane Books opened to give Cork a warm, dense, thoroughly independent bookshop — the kind where you ask for a recommendation and leave with three. We sit on Oliver Plunkett Street, a short walk from the Grand Parade and the river quays that inspired our name.
We stock what we love and what our customers ask for: Irish writing, fiction that travels, children’s books that get read twice, and enough non-fiction to start an argument over coffee elsewhere.

Supporting Cork schools with book lists and bulk orders is part of our weekly rhythm, not a side project.
Author nights and book club keep the door open after hours. A small vinyl selection by the counter is our quiet side note.
We are open six days a week for browsing, gift wrapping, and the odd rainy afternoon when someone needs a quiet aisle. Dogs on leads are welcome if they behave better than we do around new hardbacks.
